We are currently working around the clock to finish Halloween orders for custom knits! We are accepting orders for the holiday season, and recommend placing your dog hat orders early, as our cut-off date for Christmas orders will likely be in mid-November this year. We will soon be introducing two new greeting cards to our collection, including a new Santa Pugs card and our first ever Happy New Year card, so stay tuned for those. The first pugs that we instantly recognized were Paddington and Sanka. These handsome brothers are definitely show-stoppers! Sanka’s spunky energy and Paddington’s cool-dude attitude make them so much fun to hang out with. JD definitely enjoyed getting to know this dynamic duo.

Soon after meeting Paddington & Sanka, we saw our ever-gracious host, Hamilton Pug! For those who don’t know Hamilton, he is the wonderful host of #PugChat on Twitter every Wednesday night. He & his humans organized the Boston Pug Party and brought us all together, so we are very grateful that he gave us the opportunity to meet so many of our fabulous friends in a single day. Hamilton is everything you would expect him to be: handsome, sweet, and incredibly charming!

And let’s not forget Hamilton’s little brother, Rufus! Rufus is equally as dapper and dashing as his older brother, and he always makes the best faces in photos. This pair never stops making us smile in their online antics, so seeing them in person made us feel a bit starstruck!

One of the pugs who traveled the farthest to come to the Pug Party was Violet. This little cutie is sweet as can be and is just as cuddly in person as she appears to be in photos. She and her brother Timmy made the trek with their humans all the way from Chicago to come and meet everyone in Boston. I think they deserve an award for being such good friends to travel all that way! We made a pink beret for Violet a few months ago, and she melted our hearts in the sweet photo that her owner shared with us. It was fun to see this little lady up close & personal!

JD made pals with many of the pugs that we met, but there is no denying that he and the very handsome Otis the Pug Walsh became the fastest of friends. These two took an immediate liking to one another, and what was so extraordinary is that they practically look like twins! JD is a few years older than Otis, but minus the greying muzzle, these little guys could be brothers. Now, you may be thinking “don’t all pugs look alike?” Nope! All pugs have unique features, whether it be the patterns in their wrinkles or the curliness of their tails. Us humans decided that these guys must be brothers from another mother. While JD adored Otis, I must admit that I had a little crush on him myself. He just has a way of winning hearts!

While all of the humans stopped to chat and gush about how cute all of the pugs were, the pugs seized the opportunity to have playtime. JD had a particularly fun romp with Wellington!

We saw several pugs wearing hats that we made for them. This put a huge smile on my face! It was quite a chilly day in Boston, making our hats as practical as they are cute. Here JB & Spanky wait for snacks while Spanky shows off his style in a Little Monster Hat.

We mentioned that Sanka is a show-stopper, but in case you didn’t believe us, just check out this little cowboy!

Paddington got us in the football spirit a day early with the Football Helmet that his parents got him from our Etsy shop. One pug mama noted that this hat also looks a bit like a Hostess cupcake. Quite right! Either way, Paddington looks pretty pawesome.

Toward the end of the pre-party we met Shaugnessy. We couldn’t resist snapping a picture of JD with a fellow fashionable pug. Those coats could definitely put these two on the best-dressed list.

While I wish we had even more fun to share from the event, our day was sadly cut short. Just after arriving in Boston I noticed that JD’s eye was a bit cloudy and blue. JD is currently undergoing treatment for a corneal ulcer in his right eye, and I worried that the treatment might be having an adverse effect. I called our vet just before the Pug Party began and she asked us to bring JD in immediately. I was heartbroken. We were so excited for this special day and I hated to leave, but JD’s health is always our top priority. We stayed at the event long enough to say ‘hello’ to as many of our friends as possible before we left and rushed JD to the emergency room at our animal hospital. It turns out that JD’s eye was not responding to the treatment that we were prescribed earlier in the week, and the changes we were seeing in his eye were caused by the ulcer. Today, JD is doing fairly well. He is currently being administered two new types of eye drops every 2 hours and has an appointment with an ophthalmologist tomorrow. We are hoping for the best and will keep you posted about his results.

We want to thank everyone for your well-wishes and concern. Everyone we met at the Pug Party was so kind and we were struck not only by how wonderful and well behaved so many of the dogs were, but how gracious and friendly all of their humans were as well. It was a pleasure to meet so many extraordinary pug families, and we hope to have the opportunity to do it again some day!

We live in New England, so it’s no surprise that fall is our favorite season. How could we resist the beautiful changing leaves, the light chill in the air, or the corn mazes that pop up at local farms? It’s truly a stunning time of year! The dogs are particularly fond of this weather because we walk further and for longer periods of time when it’s this beautiful outside.

Looking for something fun to do with your pups this fall? Try some of our favorite autumn activities for dogs!

• Visit a local park for a long walk. Your dogs will love greeting people, meeting other dogs, and getting complements & snuggles from fellow dog lovers. Our dogs are particularly fond of walking at local college campuses that are open to the public. The students adore seeing the boys as they walk between classes and encounter us along the way!
• Attend a dog meet-up! Next Saturday, October 3 Hamilton Pug is throwing a Boston Pug Party at Boston Common & The Revere Hotel. It’s going to be a blast! Visit Hamilton’s Twitter for details.
• Attend a dog rescue social. Pug Rescue of New England’s Pug Social is coming up on October 11 at Spencer Fairgrounds in Spencer, MA! PRONE’s website has the low down on this event.
• Stop by an outdoor fall fair. Most towns have some sort of autumn event, and many outdoor events welcome the attendance of furry family members.
• Head to a farm and go for a hay ride! Check with your local farms to see if they are pet-friendly.
• Go flea-marketing and yard-saleing. You will get to snag some cool vintage swag while your dog enjoys helping you on your hunt.
• Simply sit outside & bask in the beauty of the season! Fall is fleeting, so enjoy every moment while it lasts!

September is here! In our opinion, fall is the best time of year, and we are ready to welcome it in style! Between apple picking, pumpkin carving, cider drinking, and wearing layers, there are just so many beautiful little comforts that come with autumn. One of JD’s all-time favorite activities is to play in the fallen leaves, especially when large piles of them collect on sidewalks, and we bet that fellow New Englanders see this same ecstatic joy in their dogs as they rustle through heaping leaf piles in the backyard.

We want to wish you a Happy September, and we hope to make many a dog hat, dog scarf, and dog sweater to keep your canine besties warm as the chilly weather approaches!
